for 1974, 27in. nitro barrels with short file cut sight flat and ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, the over barrel engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, hold-open toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, bordered acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 15 1/4in. well-figured stock including 1 1/8in. leather-covered recoil pad, weight 7lb. 11oz., in its lightweight leather case.
Other Notes: A recent invoice from J. Purdey & Sons informs us that the gun was serviced, stripped, cleaned and regulated, re-jointed with a new crosspin, a leather pad fitted and the stock refinished by them in August 2017
