A .450 (2 1/2in.) SINGLE-SHOT 1881 HAMMERLESS FALLING-BLOCK BACK-POSITION TARGET RIFLE, serial no. 702/36,
circa 1882, with tapering round 34in. barrel (pitted externally), the top signed 'D.& J. FRASER' over '4 LEITH ST. TERRACE, EDINBURGH', dove-tailed micro adjustable tunnel fore-sight, no provision for barrel-mounted rear-sight, the nocksform marked 'FRASER'S PATENT No.36', plain falling-block action with large side-mounted opening lever on the right concealing the serial number '702', the left side with Frasers trademark, traces of colour remaining, chequered walnut pistol-grip butt-stock (possible repaired hairline crack at head), the comb inlet with a flush-folding back-position vernier sight, chequered hard-rubber heel-plate with central Fraser monogram, horn grip-cap, sliding safe forwards of the trigger blade within the guard and chequered walnut fore-end with moulded horn tip
