A RARE .50-95 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING RIFLE, MODEL 1876 'SHORT RIFLE', serial no. 15140,
for 1881, with special order round 22in. barrel, dove-tailed barleycorn fore-sight, incomplete rear-sight, the top of barrel signed by the maker with patent dates to 1865, plain receiver (dust-cover missing), top-tang marked 'MODEL 1876' and drilled for peep-sight, chequered pistol-grip butt-stock of 3 X quality (two splits and chip at toe, chequering badly worn), iron shotgun heel-plate, calibre designation to cartridge lifter, plain 3 X grade fore-end, iron nose-cap and half magazine (stripped of finish, patinated to grey-brown)
