made as a .45 (Colt) in 1876, fitted with a new cylinder in .450 (Boxer) circa 1891, the possibly shortened 5 1/2in. sighted barrel signed 'COLT'S PT FA MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA', frame inscribed 'PAT SEPT 19 1871 " JULY 2 72 " on two lines (faint), cylinder serial numbered externally with London black-powder proofs, smooth walnut grips, 'bullseye' ejector rod, the whole re-nickel-plated in antiquity, in a later vinyl case
