circa 1864, with octagonal 5in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N', the remainder obscured by a later standing notch rear-sight, provision for fore-sight (missing), plain cylinder with traces of etched five-panel scene, twelve rear locking notches, upgraded to fourth model specification with the addition of a spring plate on the face of the recoil shield, plain open frame, smooth walnut grips with brass grip-straps and trigger-guard, hinged under-barrel rammer (repaired in antiquity), no finish remaining
