French, converted from flintlock circa 1855, with round tapering iron 8in. barrel, teat fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the octagonal breech-section stamped 'Cde 17.6 N' over 'A', together with 'M1855', the elongated top-tang stamped 'MLE 1822', plain military-style lock and hammer signed 'MRE IMP AL DE ST ETIENNE', plain wood half-stock with martial stamps, iron back-strap and brass furniture, brass nose cap and complete with its original cup-ended iron ramrod, lanyard ring and possible original lanyard
