A .577 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT SERVICE RIFLE, MODEL 'PATT. 1858 BAR-ON-BAND', no visible serial number,
dated for 1862, with blued 33in. sighted barrel, plain borderline engraved lock signed 'TOWER' together with the date and stamped with a 'VR' crown cypher to the tail, walnut three-quarter stock with traces of an ordnance stamp to right hand side of butt, blued iron furniture, two iron barrel-bands, the front example mounted with bayonet bar and iron sling swivels
