AN 8-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING PIECE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1860 with earlier parts, 41 1/2in. ribbon-twist barrel, bead fore-sight, eared groove rear-sight on the tang, simple scroll engraving at the breech drum and nipple ignition, lockplate converted from flintlock, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist with brass mounts including scrolled pistol-grip trigger-guard tang and fore-end cap and brass-mounted mahogany hammer
