circa 1859, with 5 1/2in. octagonal barrel, the elongated top-strap and top-flat signed 'C.H. GILKS & CO 5 UNION ROW,TOWER HILL, LONDON', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the rear of the top-strap, plain cylinder, borderline engraved solid frame, spurred hammer, sliding bolt safety mounted to the right hand side behind cylinder, chequered walnut one-piece grip, iron pommel-cap with rubbed indecipherable unit marking, iron trigger-guard and hinged articulated rammer to left hand side of barrel, minimal traces of original finish remaining
