A BRITISH PATTERN 1912 CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD,
circa 1914, with narrow single-edged, single-fullered 35in. blade in fine condition, etched for the first three-fifths of its length with scrolls within arabesque panels, the centre section etched with a kings crown and 'SOUTH AFRICA' over 'ZUD AFRIKA', the back edge of blade etched 'LONDON MADE', inlet proof-mark at the forte, iron basket engraved with flowing open floral scroll-work (corroded, traces of plating), shagreen and wire bound semi pistol-grip hilt, complete with its iron scabbard (corroded, traces of plating)
