28in. black powder only octagonal barrel, matt top flat with open sights, three folding leaf sights with silver-inlaid sight lines and marked for 50, 100, 200 and 250 yards, and with adjustable iron sights for 300 to 450 yards, bead fore-sight, the breech end engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98, NEW BOND ST. LONDON.', underside with HJH mark, action incorporating John Thomas 1871 patent 'wedge bolt', patent no. 3091, carved percussion fence, slender toplever, non-selective ejector, rebounding back-action lock, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 5/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with blued steel pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, fore-end with 1878 patent Hackett-style snap fastener and horn finial, weight 5lb. 8oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this rifle was completed as a .360 (Rook) calibre rifle for 'Kennard'. The date of completion is indistinct, but appears to read 1880.
