28in. nitro reproved Whitworth-steel barrels with broad matt rib, tubes engraved 'E.J. CHURCHILL GUN & RIFLE MANUFACTURER 8 AGAR ST. STRAND. LONDON. W.C.' and 'BARRELS MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl in both (possibly shortened), T. Perkes patent barrel-cocking hammerless action, patent no. 1968 of 16th May 1878, use number 465, incorporating Perkes patent ejector system, patent no. 10679 of 20th August 1886, use number 695, carved serpentine fences, manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, protruding tumbler pivots with arrow cocking-indicators, replacement crosspin, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, the underside with the 'EJC' logo, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 7/8in. figured stock, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 6lb. 8oz.
