English, circa 1855 and probably made by J. Webley, with 5in. octagonal barrel, scroll engraving to the breech and borderline engraving to the muzzle, blade fore-sight, notch rear-sight to the open half-strap, plain cylinder with borderline engraving to the front edge, border and scroll engraving to the open frame, spurless hammer with Bentley patent sprung hammer-safety, swept chequered walnut grips (loss to back edge of left hand panel), iron scroll engraved butt-cap, scroll engraved trigger-guard bow, thumb-screw take-down bolt to front of frame, the whole stripped of finish with light staining and corrosion
