The lady referred to above is almost certainly Augusta Sophia Anne Pierrepont, daughter of The Hon. Henry Pierrepont. She married Lord Charles Wellesley, the second son of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, on 9th July 1844. Their son Henry became the 3rd Duke of Wellington on the death of his uncle in 1884 as the latter had not produced an heir.
