C.E. JUNKER, BERLIN
A SCARCE SPANISH CROSS WITH SWORDS, SILVER GRADE AWARD,
taking the form of a Maltese Cross with bordered arms and stippled background, the centre bearing a circle with a swastika device and between the arms a pair of crossed swords, blades upwards and a Luftwaffe style eagle clutching a swastika, the whole medal struck in bronze and silver gilded (small losses to gilt on high spots, the reverse with makers mark 'L12' for Junker of Berlin and a flat brooch pin with hook fastener

Other Notes: This award was instituted by Adolf Hitler on the 14th April 1939 to reward the bravery of members of the 'Condor Legion' who served in the Spanish Civil War between 1936-39. Only 8304 awards in silver grade were made.
