A 15-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 2332
circa 1870, with 30in. re-browned damascus barrels, the top-rib signed 'JOHN DICKSON & SON 63 PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH' scroll engraving to rib-end, starbursts engraved around the pin sockets, fully border and scroll engraved long top-tang, border and scroll engraved back-action locks signed 'JOHN DICKSON & SON' on two lines, straight hand walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist, 1in. stock extension with chequered butt in wood, border and scroll engraved trigger-guard and tang, border and scroll engraved rounded bodied action with 'Jones' patent swing under-lever and chequered splinter fore-end with scroll engraved iron tip.
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed for Captain Buchanan of the Scots Greys.
