30in. sleeved nitro barrels, rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. PATENT BREECH LOADER.' 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, action incorporating J. Purdey 1863 second patent thumbhole underlever and Purdey 1863 double bite, patent no. 1104 of 2nd May 1863, striker discs, rebounding back-action locks with high spurred lagotic hammers, the breasts of the hammers hitting the strikers at the base of the standing breech, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the action marked 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT', top tang engraved '2', brushed finish overall, 14 1/2in. highly-figured stock including 3/4in. ebonite extension, minor crack at hand, weight 6lb. 10oz.
