28in. sleeved nitro barrels, retaining original rib engraved 'BOSS & CO. 73. ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, T. Perkes patent barrel-cocking hammerless action, patent no. 1968 of 16th May 1878, use number 404, incorporating Perkes patent ejector system, patent no. 10679 of 20th August 1886, use number 144, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, push-forward underlever, rolled-edge triggerguard, profusely engraved with fine scrolling acanthus motifs with hatched bordering, the lockplates with the makers name within a central banner, bright finish overall, 14 3/4in. figured stock (crack at head), fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 6lb. 11oz., with a leather leg of mutton case

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was ordered as no.1 of a pair in February 1889 with 30in. best damascus barrels for W. Cory, Esq.
