26in. black powder only Whitworth-steel chopperlump barrels, matt sight rib with open sights and four folding leaf sights, white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, the tubes engraved 'METFORD 1820. GEORGE GIBBS 39, CORN STREET. BRISTOL. BARRELS SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S STEEL (CHAMBERED) FOR GIBBS NO.2 CASE', treble-grip action with removable striker discs, internal crossbolt third bite, slender toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, incorporating John Deeley patent ejectors, patent no. 4289 of 26th March 1886, use number 6629, ribbed triggers, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 5/8in. well-figured (possible historic replacement) pistolgrip stock and fore-end wood, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap), sling eyes, cheekpiece and including 7/8in. rubber recoil pad, weight 9lb. 9oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case, finely re-lined in red baize with oak partitions and various accessories
