27in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON, 21 FREDERICK STREET, EDINBURGH.', and gold-inlaid '1' in an oval, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-washed cocking levers, fences carved in high relief with fliliciform motifs on a matted background, the action bar finely engraved with game scenes of pheasant, partridge and grouse in their natural habitats, surrounded and invaded by further flowing leaf and scroll designs carved in relief and on a matted background, the makers name in a scrolling banner, the underside gold-inlaid 'DICKSON'S PATENT', the triggerplate signed 'Engr. K. PREATER', retaining full original colour-hardening and finish, 15in. boldly-figured stock, weight 6lb. 4oz.

Provenance: This shotgun was completed for the vendor's husband in November 1978 with 27in. barrels. She has informed us that it has remained unfired since delivery from the makers.
