with browned possibly shortened 31 1/2in. barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT' towards the breech, adjustable tangent rear-sight, windage adjustable fore-sight, border engraved recessed breech (traces of colour), border engraved lock signed 'WHITWORTH' and with wheatsheaf trademark on the tail, sliding safe forwards of the hammer, walnut full-stock with chequered wrist and fore-end, border engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard and hinged patchbox-cover, three blued barrel-bands, sling mounts and iron ramrod (much original finish throughout), Birmingham proof marks COMPLETE WITH its makers oak storage case, compartmented and lined in chequerboard embossed leather, Whitworth trade label to inside lid and complete with a period leather sling, oil-bottle and roll-up canvas sling
