A FINE CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1810, with re-browned octagonal 10in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'W. PARKER, LONDON', engraved band and twin gold lines at breech, engraved band at muzzle, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the engraved top-tang, platinum lined touch-holes, flat border engraved locks signed 'W. PARKER', rain-proof pans, roller-bearings to the frizzen springs, sliding safes behind the hammers, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, the stock cheeks with rectangular clipped-corner escutcheons engraved with the monogram 'JEV', set triggers, engraved re-blued spurred trigger-guards, pineapple finials, white-metal take-down wedge escutcheons and fore-end caps, original ebony ramrods with replacement tips (one pistol with old repair to fore-end, Indian inventory numbers stamped to barrels); TOGETHER WITH their original oak storage case with hook closure, compartmented and lined in pale green baize (some moth), 'Parker' trade label to inside of lid and containing a number of period accessories including a good lozenge-shaped three-way flask, a loading mallet, cleaning rod and scissors ball mould
