A 25-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT CAVALRY PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
for the Indian market circa 1800, with swamped octagonal 9in. barrel, brass blade foresight, solid squared top-tang, flat borderline engraved lock with pointed tail engraved with a false image of the East India Company 'Lion' trademark, walnut half-stock with chequered 'lancer-style' butt, the un-chequered areas of butt and the underside of fore-end inlayed with ivory stars with brass centres, brass back-strap and flat based pommel-cap, decorative bronze lanyard swivel to centre, brass serpentine side-plate, trigger-guard bow and fore-end cap, replacement iron ramrod (the original, captive, now missing), some staining and mild pitting to iron surfaces
