for the Indian market circa 1800, with swamped octagonal 9in. barrel, slight traces of damascening, brass blade foresight, solid squared top-tang with standing notch rear-sight, flat borderline engraved lock with pointed tail engraved with a false image of the East India Company 'Lion' trademark, scroll engraving to tail, walnut full-stock with chequered 'lancer-style' butt, the un-chequered areas of butt and the underside of fore-end inlayed with ivory spirals and dots, brass back-strap and flat based pommel-cap, decorative bronze lanyard swivel to centre, brass serpentine side-plate, trigger-guard bow and fore-end cap, captive iron ramrod, some staining and mild pitting to iron surfaces
