25 7/8in. nitro reproved (in 2013) octagonal barrel, tubed to 5,6x50R from original .290 (rook) calibre, matted top flat with open sights with two folding leaf sights, bead fore-sight, the breech end mounted with a Carl Zeiss Zielsechs telescopic sight in quickly-detachable mounts, action incorporating John Thomas 1871 patent 'wedge bolt', patent no. 3091, carved percussion fence, slender toplever, non-selective ejector, rebounding back-action lock, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock with engraved and colour-hardened steel pistolgrip-cap and blued steel buttplate, fore-end with 1878 patent Hackett-style snap fastener and horn finial, weight 6lb. 8oz.
