Product Details

B. FOWLER, JR. USA,
A SCARCE .38 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT BOOT-PISTOL, serial no. 85,
circa 1840, with two-stage 5in. barrel, applied brass fore-sight blade, punched star, leaf and silver line decoration to the octagonal portion of barrel, left hand top-flat signed 'B. FOWLER, JN' (faint), standing notch rear-sight to the rear of action, brass boxlock body with dolphin-headed side-hammer, swollen bag-shaped maple grip with inlaid german silver decoration, iron trigger-guard and brass-mounted under-barrel ramrod

Other Notes: Previous unverifiable sources have always attributed manufacture of this unusual pistol to the State Prison in Connecticut USA. Despite this rumour always being dismissed as a myth, recent proof has come to light that states handguns were manufactured in the prison in the 1840's and it is entirely possible that this pistol was indeed made there.
