A 25-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING-PISTOL SIGNED 'R.W.', no visible serial number,
probably by Wogdon, circa 1800, with slightly swamped octagonal 9 1/2in. barrel brushed bright, the top-flat with inlayed gold oval engraved with a recumbant stag, brass dove-tailed fore-sight, inlayed engraved gold band and two further engraved bands at breech, gold lined touch-hole, the underside of barrel with 'E.B' makers mark and London proofs, top-tang with standing notch rear-sight and engraved with floral scrolls and a martial trophy, flat bevel-edged lockplate with stepped tail, inlayed with a gold oval engraved 'R.W.' beneath the rainproof gold-lined pan, flag trophy engraved to the stepped tail, sliding safety behind the hammer, engraved starburst forwards of the hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered recurved bag-shaped butt, engraved iron butt-cap with short rear spur, double roll-edged trigger-guard bow engraved with a martial trophy, set-trigger, pineapple finial, silver fore-end cap engraved with a starburst and horn tipped mahogany ramrod with worm end
