for 1885 but miss-matched numbers throughout, of the so-called 'artillery' type with 5 1/2in. barrel, single line address, solid frame with three line patent stamp and 'US' mark (traces of colour), blued fluted cylinder numbered '5731', blued trigger-guard plate numbered '8136', the grip-strap and heel numbered '119216', smooth one-piece walnut grip with traces of a martial cartouche and dated '1882' on the left and a rectangular cartouche on the right, barrel and frame with 'D.F.C.' stamp, heel of grip with 'R.A.C.' stamp, traces of finish throughout
