Whitworth-steel nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, rib gold-inlaid '2' (rib address indistinct), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke (some pitting), toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving, the underside with a roundel inscribed 'HENRY ATKIN FROM PURDEY'S', brushed bright finish, 15 1/4in. replacement stock cast on for the left shoulder, weight 6lb. 12oz., in a canvas case with William Evans trade label
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in 1899 as No.2 of a pair for Vincent W. York. The records also show that it was actioned by John Robertson
