UNDERWOOD, LONDON
A LARGE IVORY-HILTED HUNTING-KNIFE,
circa 1880, with parallel 9 1/4in. clip-point bowie-style blade false edged for the last 4in. (some light staining to blade and loss to edge at tip), the left side of blade signed 'VR' separated by a crown over 'UNDERWOOD, 56 HAYMARKET, LONDON', plain nickel cross-guard with aperture for scabbard-lock, nickel oval ferrule and pommel-cap with coarsely chequered ivory grip slightly swelling towards the pommel and carved with imitation front and back-straps, complete with its leather scabbard (distressed, some stitching loose) with integral sprung lock and leather frog-shoe initialed 'S.B.B.'
