A STEEL-HILTED SMALL-SWORD
probably English circa 1700, with tapering 31 1/2in. colichemarde blade, cast iron double kidney-bean guard with raised and carved relief decoration of horsemen fighting, surrounded by scrolls (traces of gilding), large pas-de-ane, 'D' shaped knuckle-bow and carved urn-shaped pommel, the grip-piece swelling in the centre and bound in variegated silver wires with plaited ends, no scabbard, some staining and mild pitting to blade
