circa 1840, with fine twist-iron octagonal 4 1/2in. smooth-bore barrel, the top-flat signed 'J. BLISSETT, 321 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON' (lightly rubbed), engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraving at breech, carved percussion snail and fence, fitted with a platinum plug, border and scroll engraved side-hammer action with radiused edges, white-metal dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the border and scroll engraved top-plate, chequered walnut butt (chequering rubbed smooth), iron butt-cap with central trap for caps, guarded trigger, side mounted belt-hook and captive stirrup under-barrel ramrod
