circa 1845, with London proved, browned smooth-bore octagonal 10in. twist-iron barrels, the top-flat signed 'NEWCASTLE', dovetailed blued fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the colour-hardened breech-blocks, platinum line and moulded fences to the squared patent breeches, scroll engraved colour-hardened top-tangs, borderline and acanthus scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'DAVISON', rope-twist engraved sliding safes behind the scroll engraved colour-hardened dolphin-headed hammers, walnut half-stocks with swept chequered grips, clip-corner silver rectangular escutcheons to the wrists, raised lip around the pommels with moulded, engraved and colour hardened iron butt-caps, border and scroll engraved blued flat-bottomed trigger-guard bows, adjustable single set-triggers, white metal barrel-key escutcheons, moulded horn fore-end tips and horn-tipped mahogany ramrods, both pistols retaining much original finish and colour; TOGETHER WITH their original brass-cornered mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a period loading rod with two further interchangeable ends, a cap tin, turn-screw and nipple key, together with a period but incorrect bag-shaped powder-flask
