AN ULTRA RARE CASED .177 BARREL-COCKING AIR-PISTOL, MODEL 'CERTUS LONG-BARREL TARGET', serial no. 201,
for 1929-30, with blued 12in. barrel, protected fore-sight to the muzzle, adjustable rear-sight, lift-up cocking action with automatic opening tap, blued stepped air-chamber, the left side of trigger housing marked 'CERTUS, PATENT, COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD LONDON', the word 'PATENT obscured by the cocking spring retaining band, the right side marked 'PRO*PAT*APPD*FOR* 23099', smooth walnut grips and iron frame drilled for a wire shoulder-stock (missing), strong amounts of original finish remaining; COMPLETE WITH its manufacturers wood storage case, the exterior covered in brown pebbled leatherette, the interior compartmented and lined in burgundy baize (faded), Cogswell & Harrison parchment label to inside of lid, the case also containing a wire brush (probably from another), an original card carton for 'THE KING' airgun pellets and a previously undocumented carton for 'THE CERTUS BELTED PELLET' in two halves with paper label stating manufacture by Cogswell's Feltham, Middlesex factory and a printed notice stating 'Each one of these pellets is as carefully made as are the bullets used in the service cartridge, and every one is gauged to high and low dimensions within one thousandth part of an inch', with some contents

Other Notes: Research with eminent collectors would suggest that this is only the second cased Target Model to have come to light. The pellets were previously unknown.
