28in. nitro reproved barrels, ribs engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.', and '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke (No.1) and imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke (No.2), treble-grip actions with hidden third bites, removable striker discs (No.1), No.2 toplever engraved '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, fine acanthus scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening and much renewed finish, 14 1/4in. stocks, weight 6lb. 9oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather case with gold-tooled red leather John Dickson trade label, the lid exterior marked 'S. JOHNSTON STEWART. SYNTON. SELKIRK'

Provenance: The makers records state that gun no. 5869 was sold in July 1906 as a '12-bore A & D H/L/E' with 29in. barrels. Gun no. 6260 is listed as being sold on 18th August 1910 as a '12-bore A & D H/L/E No.2' with 29in. barrels
