circa 1740, with tapering iron 7in. turn-off two-stage barrel, moulded cannon muzzle, rounded breech with moulded band, London proofs and 'S.L.' makers heart-shaped stamp, solid top-tang (traces of engraving), radiused lock with pointed tail signed forwards of the hammer 'SAML. LOWE', unbridled frizzen, walnut half-stock (possibly replaced) with brass furniture including long eared grotesque butt-cap, broad trigger-guard bow and heart-shaped escutcheon to wrist, the whole heavily cleaned with some loss to engraved detail
