possibly a variant 'MERRILL'S PATENT', with round 21 1/4in. barrel, block fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, integral receiver with loading aperture to the top accessed via a double-linked toggle-action bolt, plain lock and side-hammer, walnut full-stock, iron furniture, one barrel-band at nose and replacement loose ramrod, the original, captive, now absent, saddle-bar fitted to left hand side, refinished throughout and devoid of detail
