circa 1848, with browned 27in. twist iron barrels, raised top-rib signed in script 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', scroll engraved rib-end and top-tang, platinum vented plugs, borderline and acanthus scroll engraved bar-action locks signed in script 'WESTLEY RICHARDS' and also featuring an engraved gamebird to the tails, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (old crack behind both locks), iron furniture, a later wood half pistol-grip applied to the lower tang and no provision for ramrod, strong traces of original finish to barrels
