PALL MALL CORNER' and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, the tubes engraved 'WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, carved leaf fences, toplever gold-inlaid '1', manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the sideplates with scrolling banners engraved 'F. BEESLEY. PATENT. LONDON.' around a coronet, the underside with 'BEESLEY'S PATENT' in an oval, retaining traces of colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. well-figured stock, light damage to right leading edge of fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 11oz., in a leather case with C.B.
