circa 1835, with heavy octagonal 15 1/2in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, white-metal band at breech, carved snail, fully border and florally engraved bar-action lock with signature forwards of the hammer, walnut half-stock with chequered and capped pistol-grip, aperture for detachable butt-stock at wrist (butt-stock absent), swivel mounted to grip-cap, carved trigger-guard bow with scrolled flat front, complex engraved sideplate with buttressed side nail, engraved buttressed barrel-key mounts, replacement iron ramrod, traces of finish
Other Notes: It is almost certain that this carbine was originally supplied with an optional shorter pistol-barrel, in addition to the missing butt-stock
