Provenance: Sir Max Hastings kindly sent us the following tribute to his great friend Sir Christopher Bland, the former owner of this pair who sadly passed away in January of this year:

"Sir Christopher Bland was one of Britain's foremost businessmen, a chairman of many companies including BT and of the BBC. He was also a passionate countryman who shot and fished all his life, from his early upbringing in Northern Ireland. For some years he ran a successful shoot of his own in Hampshire, and was a keen pheasant and partridge shot both with side-by-sides and over-and-unders. The most convivial of both hosts and guests, he nonetheless liked to claim that lunch seldom damaged his aim."
