circa 1840, with browned octagonal 12in. rifled barrels, the top-flats signed 'BARTH. IOS. KUCHENREUTER' and numbered '1' & '2' for the pair at the breech respectively, dove-tailed blade fore-sights, elevating notch rear-sights adjustable via a worm at the tangs, plain colour hardened bar-action locks, plain moulded hammers, walnut half-stocks chequered at the grip within floral carved borders, flared pommels, walnut spurred trigger-guard bows with iron reinforcement, single set triggers, single barrel keys with oversized squared flush fitting heads and no provision for ramrods, in a later pigskin carry-case
