for 1889 (number partially defaced and re-applied), with blued octagonal 26in. barrel signed by the maker, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, elevating buckhorn rear-sight, slab-sided action, the colour hardening faded to silver, blued bolt, the top-tang fitted with a period folding adjustable peep-sight marked 'PAT JAN 29/79', highly figured chequered pistol-grip butt-stock of approximately 3x quality with crescent heel-plate, single set trigger, chequered matching walnut fore-end and full-length magazine-tube, strong amount of original finish remaining
