dated for 1855, with round tapering 5 7/8in. barrel, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight at the front of the solid top-tang, borderline engraved lock with date, 'TOWER' and a 'VR' crown device at tail, walnut full-stock with brass furniture (traces of an '1864' reissue date at wrist), ordnance stamps to breech and the iron belt-hook, iron lanyard ring at heel, replacement iron ramrod, iron surfaces with frosting and staining
