circa 1888 and 1900, 28in. nitro barrels (No.1 nitro reproved and with evidence of raised dents), ribs engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON. PATENT BREECH LOADING HAMMERLESS GUN.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in all, Lancaster patent assisted-opening actions (No.1 with earlier cocking lever design), slender toplevers engraved '1' and '2', automatic safeties, beaded border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured stocks including 1in. extensions, weight 6lb. 6oz. and 6lb. 8oz., in their leather double guncase
