English circa 1840, with Birmingham proved octagonal 5 1/4in. barrel, bead fore-sight, open iron frame with wing-nut barrel removal, plain six-shot cylinder with engraved band to leading edge, moulded nipple shield, scroll engraved rounded central hammer boxlock action, finely chequered walnut grips and engraved flat iron heel-plate, in its original walnut storage case lined and compartmented in green baize (some mothing) and containing a period flask, mould with load lever combined and a later nipple-pot, escutcheon missing from lid
