A 9mm (STEYR) SEMI-AUTOMATIC SERVICE-PISTOL, MODEL 'M1912 EXPORT STEYR-HAHN', serial no. 95,
dated for 1916, Austrian issue stamps, with 5in. barrel, sighted slide, blued frame, integral magazine and chequered walnut grips, retaining a strong amount of original blued finish

The information given to me is that the M1912 Steyr owned by Captain Alwyn Foster who lived in Mersham, Kent is as follows;
Born 12/04/1873 died 25/08/1953.
He was a Lt in the Boer War, 7th Kings Royal Rifles.
Awarded the Africa Star with Tugola Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry. In 1908 he was a Captain in the imperial Yeomanry.
He had two ships that were (probably) commandeered by the Royal Navy; Calista a 265-ton Steam Yacht, which struck a mine with all hands lost Dec. 1917 and Angela a 17-ton converted admiralty picket boat which was lost to enemy action March 1944 at Freetown.
