** WINCHESTER
A .30 (M1 CARBINE) SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE SIGNED, MODEL 'M1 CARBINE', serial no. 1063997,
for 1943,18in. nitro reproved (in 2021) barrel, protected blade fore-sight, L-type flip peep rear-sight, flat-top bolt, push-button safety, grey phosphate finish, high-wood flat walnut half-stock with oval-cut oiler recess, two-rivet handguard, type-1 barrel band, with a canvas sling, weight 5lb. 7oz.
Other Notes: Airdropped to the Norwegian resistance in 1944/45.
This carbine was made by Winchester in May 1943.
The drop was made in Numedal, south of Oslo, and
several places often high up in the terrain. During the
last 2 years in WWII Norway received 70 of these carbines
in this valley.
