A GEORGE V NAVAL ENSIGN'S SWORD, circa World War I, with 31 1/2 in. blade with inset proof plug in ricasso and 'GIEVE'S / PORTSMOUTH / LONDON' over, fullered blade etched both sides with scroll-work, fouled anchor and king's cypher, brass hilt and folding guard and scabbard catch, with wire-bound white grips and remnant sword-knot, together with its black leather scabbard with brass fittings, blade stained especially towards the hilt, scabbard leather crazed with some deep cracks and stitching split, chape dented, 37 in. overall
