A .577 (SNIDER) SINGLE-SHOT SERVICE-CARBINE, MODEL 'SNIDER ARTILLERY CARBINE', serial no. 80,
dated for 1872, with 21 1/2in. blued barrel with bayonet lug, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, flip open MKIII breech-block, plain lock signed 'LSA. Co.' and with the date, a crown and 'V.R.' device at tail, plain walnut three-quarter stock with brass heel-plate (heavily bruised on face), the top-spur marked 'R.A.A.M.' and '80', the fore-end with two iron barrel-bands and jag-ended iron clearing rod, brass trigger guard and vintage leather sling, retaining much apparently original finish throughout
